A Day: Contemporary Revolutions v. the French Revolution

Hello everyone!  Today we assessed the physical, psychological, and social reasons why people join a violent revolution and participate in encounters that result in destruction of lives and property.  We analyzed the idea of mob mentality and predicted the role that it played in events of the French Revolution.

For homework, you are to research a contemporary revolution (one that happened within the last 10 years) and write a 2-paragraph paper responding to the following questions:

1.)  Summarize the contemporary revolution (e.g., causes, details, effects).
2.)  Compare the contemporary revolution with the French Revolution.  How are they similar and/or different?  You must provide details about events within the revolution to support your argument.

Furthermore, please remember that you will have a quiz relating to information learned about the French Revolution on January 2.  Please email me if you have any questions.  Have a great day!

A Day: French Revolution Timeline

Hello everyone.  Today we assessed the causes of the French Revolution and we debated whether King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were responsible for this overthrow of the monarchy.  For homework, you are to read the packet that I handed out during class.  After reading, you must create a timeline (which should be neat and on a blank sheet of paper...not lined paper) that shows the important events on it.  Furthermore, you should define all of the bold terms or names within the packet under the timeline.  Please email me if you have any questions.  Have a great weekend!

A Day: American Revolution Documents

Hello everyone!  Today we discussed the causes of the American Revolution.  We researched various laws and events that increased the tension between the American colonists and the British government.  We analyzed opinions of both sides in order to fully understand the motivations behind the laws or events.  In the beginning of next class, we will answer the question: Were the American colonists justified in breaking away from Great Britain?

For homework, please finish the worksheet that we began in class.  Also, I handed out a packet relating to the Founding Documents of our nation.  Please read the primary sources (Thomas Paine's Common Sense, the United States Declaration of Independence, and the United States Bill of Rights) and answer the questions at the end of the packet.  Please note that #7 is extra credit.

Also, remember that your test will be on Monday (for Periods 7-8 and 9-10) and Wednesday (for Periods 3-4).  The study guide will be due on the day of the test.  REMEMBER THAT THE STUDY GUIDE IS ONLY A GUIDE, and not the test.  You should still study any notes or worksheets that you have.  Email me with any questions that you have.

Also, remember that your test will be on Friday.  I have emailed the study guide.  This document will be due on the day of the test.  REMEMBER THAT THE STUDY GUIDE IS ONLY A GUIDE, and not the test.  You should still study any notes or worksheets that you have.  Email me with any questions that you have.
