B Day (Periods 9-10): Khmer Rouge

Hello everyone!  Today we discussed various Cold War flashpoints such as the rise of communism within Korea, Vietnam, and Cambodia.  Furthermore, we analyzed the argument that Khmer Rouge officials were victims during the genocide within the nation that killed millions.  For homework, please research the five major officials of the Khmer Rouge and write a paragraph about one of the individuals.  Within the paragraph, you should explain the individual's role in the Khmer Rouge regime and argue whether he should be held accountable for the actions of the regime.  Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.  Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

B Day (Periods 9-10): Post-WWII Assignments

Hello everyone! Today we discussed the creation of the UN, including its goals and structure. We also predicted the issues that the organization would have faced in the midst of the Cold War.
Please remember that you have a few assignments due for the next few classes.  Here is the list:
1.)  Atomic Bomb Memorial:  This assignment was given out last week.  It is due on Wednesday.
2.)  U.S.-U.S.S.R Comparison:  Create a T-Chart comparing the ideologies of both.  This is due on Friday.
3.)  UN Conflicts Worksheet:  Complete the worksheet based on U.N. conflicts.  Please remember that one has to be from the past (1945-1990s) and one from the present (2003-present).  The other is your choice.  This assignment is also due on Friday.

Hello everyone! On Friday, we presented information about the new technology and weaponry of WWII. We also discussed the end of the war in Europe and brief information about the war in Asia. For homework, please read the letters from kamikaze pilots during WWII. Keep in mind why they are doing these actions and the thoughts that they have. After reading, please research the thoughts and reasons why they do what they do. You must write two paragraphs comparing the two groups. B Day: Atomic Bomb Memorial

Hello everyone!  Today we discussed the causes and consequences of the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan.  The following are the homework assignments relating to today's lesson:

1.)  For Monday, please read Chapter 32 Section 5 in your textbook and complete the worksheet on the reading.
2.)  For Wednesday, you must create a piece of artwork or a memorial dedicated to the victims of the atomic bomb attacks.  Remember that creativity will play a large role in grading this assignment.  The finished product should be creative, professional, and neat.  Also, you may NOT do the assignment on lined paper.

A Day (Periods 7-8): Jewish Ghettos

Hello everyone! Yesterday we discussed expansion of Germany and the beginning of World War II.  We also analyzed how each event affected the Jewish people living within these areas.  As I mentioned in class, Jewish people began to be tranported into ghettos after the invasion of Poland.  For homework, you are to read about these ghettos and complete a worksheet on your reading.  This will be due on Tuesday's class.

Furthermore, your Peer Review assignments on turnitin.com must be completed by Thursday at 11:59 P.M.  You must read the research papers that you were assigned and evaluate them by answering the questions provided.  If you have any questions or problems, please do not hesitate to email me.
